The Stables and Meadows nines opened in 1997 and the Pines nine followed in 2000, and the layout sits at an elevation of about 1,000 feet with bentgrass greens and perennial ryegrass fairways. The course hosted the PGA Tour's BellSouth Classic and AT&T Classic from 1997 through 2008, and has hosted a PGA Tour Champions event most years since 2013, first known as the Greater Gwinnett Championship and, since 2016, the Mitsubishi Electric Classic. Nearby, the Gas South District, formerly known as the Infinite Energy Center, sits at 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, combining an arena, a convention center, and a theater that host concerts, sporting events, and trade shows.

Sugarloaf Mills, a large enclosed shopping and entertainment center near the interchange of Interstate 85 and Georgia 316 in Lawrenceville, opened in 2001 and has long drawn shoppers from across Gwinnett County with a mix of retail stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Sugarloaf Parkway itself carry additional retail centers, restaurants, and office parks serving the surrounding neighborhoods. A few miles away on Buford Highway, the Southeastern Railway Museum preserves more than ninety pieces of historic rolling stock on a thirty-acre site built around a restored 1871 depot, and it has held the designation of Georgia's official transportation history museum since 2000.
